Apologies for no design competition in May

I would just like to apologise for the lack of a design competition in the month of May. I have the next 6 competitions planned out but due to a busy family and work schedule this month I just did not have the time to put it all together and post it to the site.

The competition will return in June.

I look forward to looking through all your entries.

Monthly Design Challenge – What would your first album cover look like?

Just over a year ago a friend sent me a note on Facebook called “What would your first album cover look like?” In the note was a list of instructions telling you to go to three web sites to get a random title, random text and a random image. Once you had these you were to put them all together and make an imaginary album cover.  It was pretty fun so I have decided to do it again and get other people to submit their finished images too.

I am going to do this once a month with different subjects but for April I will stick to the Album Cover.  Below are the instructions and links you need to use to get the stuff you need.

Here are the rules:

1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5- Upload your image to Flickr, Facebook, or wherever you want to store your image then post a link in the comments of this post.

Here is my Album cover for this months challenge.

“Note: This is not a competition. There will be NO Prize, this is just a bit of fun!”

Mumford & Sons – The Bookshop Session

Over the past few months I have been obsessed with the band Mumford & Sons. They have recorded some live tracks in a bookshop and it was totally amazing.  Their style of music blended with the atmosphere in the store makes from some amazing listening.  I don’t think that the session is available to buy but was made available on their YouTube channel.  Here are the four videos from the session in no specific order. My favorite would have to be The Cave, let me know what is your favorite.
