About Barry Finlay

I am a 30 year old married man living in Bonnybridge in central Scotland. My wife and I have 1 son who was  2 in September and he is a handful… but what 2 year old isn’t I suppose.  Primarily I am a Scanning & Imaging Technician for an Orthotics company based in Airdrie.  It’s a good job and I am lucky to be one of the few people in the world that actually like their job.

I am also a part-time freelance graphics & web designer. I started Finlay Design Solutions back in April 2006, but other work commitments meant the design work had to take a back seat for a while.  Now… 4 years on I am investing more time in the design work and reviving Finlay Design Solutions.  If you are interested in using my services check out the Finlay Design Solutions page on the site.

My passion for photography started when I was really young and completed my photography badge when I was in the scouts.  Even before that I remember always having my own camera.  My grandparents used to take me on holiday a lot and I always had my camera close by.  As I grew up and started to earn my own money I would get a new camera every couple of years which as lead me to my current camera which is a Fuji Finepix S9600.  It is a great camera but think I will be making the jump to DSLR next.  I love taking photographs but in the past struggled to find the time, now I am making the time as I would like to take my hobby to the next level.

I spend a lot of time on the Internet and only came across blogging a couple of years ago.  One of the sites that kept on cropping up on the subject was Problogger.net.  I loved this site and still visit it regularly.  I also bought the ProBlogger book and that planted the initial seed to start my own blog.  After 2 years of thinking about what I wanted to do I jumped in and here we are.  I have a few social profiles online so feel free to connect with me on Twitter, Facebook, Bebo or StumbleUpon.
