Blackberry Curve 8900 Review

I know this phone has been on the market for a while now but when I was looking for reviews on the phone there were lots of video reviews but most of the text reviews were all the same.  I have been using the phone for a couple of weeks now and wanted to put up my own review of the phone.

This is also the first Blackberry I have ever had so it has all been very new to me but I absolutely love the phone and the whole Blackberry concept.  For those of you that are not familiar with what makes a Blackberry different from a regular phone, check this link out for some details.  Blackberry Curve 8900

One of the first things that I noticed about the phone was that it was considerably wider than a standard phone. The height and depth of the phone are pretty standard and the phone is quite light considering the power that it packs.  After using the phone for a few hours you realise that the extra width is part of what makes the phone so easy to hold and use.  There is plenty of room for you to use the full qwerty keyboard which would have been difficult if the phone was not as wide. The keyboard itself is really good.  At first I thought I was going to have a problem with the size of the keys but straight away I was typing away quite the thing.

The 480×360 display is great, and the multitude of display settings means you will have no problem reading your Email or text messages. The 3.2 Megapixel camera is ok and the flash is not bad for low light indoor pictures but if you are going to be blowing the photographs up to print them off you will notice the fuzziness of the photograph and they will not look as good as they did on the screen. The Wi-Fi is pretty good and once you have setup your connections the phone will automatically connect to Wi-Fi spots you have already configured. The one down side to the Curve is the lack of 3G which does make a difference when browsing the internet when your not connected to Wi-Fi.  One of the things I found out when looking through the reviews was that the battery life was great and you could go several days without charging when using the phone under normal circumstances.  I have found that I am only getting a couple of days out of the phone between charges but I do have the Wi-Fi on constantly. I might try with the Wi-Fi off for a few days and see if there is any improvement in the battery life.

Overall I am very impressed with the Blackberry Curve 8900 and I am wondering how I ever survived without a Blackberry.  This is a works phone but I will defiantly be sticking to Blackberry in the future for my personal phone, if for some reason the company I work for decide that they do not need to give me a phone.
